DE MBARE FREEZE NDIRAYA OUT

Castle Lager Premier Soccer League giants Dynamos have finally left coach Tonderai Ndiraya in the cold by engaging a foreign coach, whom they are likely to unveil today.BY TAWANDA TAFIRENYIKA

Ndiraya endured almost two months of uncertainty as the club leadership promised him the job for the 2016 season, even though they were not willing to commit a fresh deal on paper with his contract expiring on December 31 last year.

But despite assurances to both Ndiraya and the fans, the Dynamos executive, under fire for the club’s failure in the transfer market, ruthlessly kicked out Ndiraya in typical Real Madrid fashion and will unveil a Portuguese coach Jorge Silva.

Ndiraya took over from David Mandigora in the middle of the season and went on to finish in second position last term, which was quite a good return, but that could not convince the demanding club hierarchy to extend his tenure.

Late last year, Dynamos even promised to send Ndiraya to Germany for a coaching course, but at the end of the season, the club was evasive on his future. The writing was on the wall when the coach was asked to send a fresh application for the job and even though Ndiraya submitted his CV — as if DeMbare didn’t already have it — he knew it was time up.

The deadline for the “application” is today, after which they are expected to unveil the coach they want to lead the Glamour Boys. “Ndiraya’s contract expired and he will be considered together with other applicants,” Dynamos president Keni Mubaiwa said yesterday. “We have received so many applications, especially from foreigners, who want the job and as a big club, what we want are results and we will choose the best coach who can deliver.

The deadline for applications is tomorrow (Friday) and we will immediately unveil the coach at a Press conference,” Mubaiwa said. Informed sources, however, said the Dynamos leadership had already made a decision to hire the Portuguese coach.“They have completed all the formalities and I am sure the coach will be in the country tomorrow (today).”

Silva worked with European clubs that include Germany’s VfB Stuttgart and Nuremberg as well as Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon. In Africa, he coached Tunisia’s Esperance, and also worked with Nigeria’s Enyimba and Ghana’s Hearts of Oak.

Dynamos have not been successfully active in the transfer market this season, only managing to secure Triangle midfielder Tichaona Chipunza, but were beaten to the signature of midfielder Ronald “Rooney” Chitiyo, who was “stolen” from their camp by Harare City.

They also lost out on Blessing Moyo, whom they also failed to tie down on time, for the exciting full-back to cross town and join Harare City, while their number one target for this window, Raphael Manuvire, was snapped by the same club. In terms of transfers, nothing much has happened, with some of the players linked to the club committing elsewhere.
