EIGHT ZIMBABWEANS MAKE THE CUT IN GOLDEN PILSENER ZIM OPEN

Eight Zimbabwean golfers will proceed to the final two rounds of the Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open after successfully making the cut today at the Royal Harare Golf Club.

The eight are Scott Vincent (-5), Mark Williams (-5), Kieran Vincent (Amateur) (+1), Marc Cayeaux (+1), Ryan Cairns (+2), Mohammed Mandhu (+4), Greg Bentley (+4) and David Amm (Amateur) +4.

Scott Vincent is joint 5th and 4 shots behind leader, Louis de Jager, who is on 9 under par.

Meanwhile, Marc Cayeux’s inspirational story continued as the 38-year-old achieved his goal of making the cut this week after finishing one-over par after two rounds at Royal Harare Golf Club.

He wept on Thursday after he completed his first competitive round on the Sunshine Tour after more than five years away from the game brought on by a head-on collision with a police truck in 2010.

Cayeux, then 32, suffered dreadful injuries that required 27 operations and hours of physical therapy just for him to get back to his feet. All that bore fruit as he made five birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey.

He carded a two-under-par 70 in the opening round.
